“Day of Independence” People asked me why don't I celebrate our day of independence? Well to me free is one thing my race isn't. Nine blacks died because of one man's sin That's like watching Christ die over and over again I guess my Nubian skin makes me less of a man Our war for equality ended before it began Don't agree then you should go and look at history then; MLK had a dream for this world of our, planted seeds to see us become beautiful flowers but look what happens to anyone who tries to empower I'm probably writing this rhyme in my final hour But this world is ours and everything in it We'll still be waiting for freedom

She finally asked me why you left.. I was embarrassed to answer her;  I didn't know myself. So I simply said that "the streets change people." My head dropped as those words came out my mouth, but I had finally accepted it. I lost another person I truly cared about. It hurts knowing that you aren't the person I was in love with from back then. Neither are you the person I thought you were.. I guess it hurt so much because of how much I trusted you, thinking it would be different. For once I could be happy with someone I felt I deserved.. Seems that again someone else knew my future better than I.. I wish you well with your future, stay up..
